Govt ready with rules for CAA, sources in the government said
The 'Citizenship Amendment Act' or 'CAA' may be implemented across the country before the Lok Sabha elections. Such is the claim of a source of the Ministry of Home Affairs. News agency PTI said so. It is to be noted that even after the seal of the President on the CAA at the end of 2019, the rules have not been made. So the law has not yet been implemented. But this time the law will be made soon. And only after that it can be implemented. Such is the demand of central sources. The Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA was enacted in 1955 to prevent illegal immigration. 64 years later the law was amended to change the definition of trespasser. Unlawful trespasser was defined in Section 2 of the 1955 Act. In the 2019 amendment, section 2 was amended to add 2(1)(b). In that section it is said that Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan shall not fall under the category of illegal immigrants.
