Will protect Dakshineswar skywalk, says Mamata Banerjee
This time the state-metro conflict over the skywalk is at
its peak. RNVL has sought land from the state to smooth metro movement on the
Kabi Subhash-Dakshineswar route. Due to this, the Skywalk of Dakshineswar may
be partially broken. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee roared against this on Tuesday. She clearly said, "I will not
let Dakshineswar's skywalk be broken."
Chief Minister warned, “Dakshineswar Skywalk is the jewel of the heart. I will not let it broken. I will do alternate route if needed. Spend your wits.” She further said, “Alipore Bodyguard Line is the jewel in the heart of the police. State heritage. I won't let any of it break." If necessary, the metro route should be changed.
The origin of the complexities is from the idea of
renovating metro stations. The authorities have thought of renovating the
station to increase the number of metros from Kabi Subhash to Dakshineswar and
smooth the movement. Railways has sought land from the state to increase the
length of the line for it. But if that land is to be given, a part of Dakshineswar
Skywalk will have to be removed. Have to break quite a bit. And it was already
clear that the state did not agree to it. On this day, Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee roared about it. I will not allow you to sit on our chests and try to
destroy our long-standing heritage,” she declared in a firm voice.
The state administrative chief said, “I have handled the
railway ministry for a long time. If there is a problem, I know how to solve
it. We created metro zone in Bengal. I solved the Delhi metro problem. Delhi
Metro wouldn't have happened without me." In this case, the Chief Minister
said that she can create an alternative route for the metro. In her words,
"Dakshineswar is not built today. Swami Vivekananda should be remembered
when you go there to shake hands. Ramakrishna Dev should be remembered. Mother
Bhavatarini must be remembered. Dakshineswar Belur has millions of fans. They
should be remembered." All in all, informed circles feel that the
state-centre conflict over the demolition of Dakshineswar Skywalk has reached a
new level.
