WB Govt Budget 2024: WB Govt employees will get 4 percent DA more from new financial year

Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya announced the state budget in the Assembly on Thursday. As a result, total DA increased by 8 percent in the state this year. The state government employees will get dearness allowance at the new rate from the next financial year. As a result of the increase of DA in the new rate, the difference with the central rate of DA also reduced to 32 percent.


The state government workers have been protesting for a long time demanding DA at the central rate. The case is going on in the Supreme Court. However, the question-and-answer of that case has been getting longer and longer. It also dampened the hopes of the state government workers to win through legal means. However, at the beginning of this year, the Chief Minister announced a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance. Similarly, government employees and retired employees are getting increased DA from January 1.

After this, Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya announced another 4 percent increase in DA in the WB Govt Budget 2024 on Thursday. He said, keeping in mind the price increase in the market, the state government has decided to increase the dearness allowance. This DA will be available at the new rate from the next financial year. That is, from the month of May, dearness allowance will be available at an increased rate. With this, the DA of state government employees has increased to 14 percent. However, still the difference with the gratuity in central hands remained 32 percent.
