Mamata Banerjee reveals data on Bengal handicraft

 

State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said this during a question and answer session in the Legislative Assembly on Monday. Handicrafts of Bengal are also being exported abroad. Millions of people are buying it in various fairs. Self-help groups have improved tremendously during the tenure of the present government. Due to which there is financial prosperity. She said, "Our handicrafts are our wealth. The more retail sales at the fair the better. Various shopping malls are buying our handicraft items. We have agreement with Amazon. Our products are going out too.

Referring to the development of self-help group projects in the state, Mamata Banerjee further said, “I myself have seen lakhs of people at handicraft fairs. The art of our hands is our wealth. As retail sales increase, the better will be the profit. Self-help groups are doing a lot of work today. This is our best group. Our economy has grown. A lot of training is being given through Utkarsh Bangla. There are many jobs. We are number one in the country for providing training. The Chief Minister also mentioned that not only women but also men are working through this group. She said, “We have increased the number of self-help groups after coming to power. The number of women who joined earlier self-help groups has now increased. Men are doing the same. 2000 crore was the investment during the left period. Now it is 92 thousand crores. The government is helping. Male and female share is not observed. Bengal has progressed. Loves to watch Bangla fairs. Puja is proof of that. During the puja, there is a business of 82 thousand crore rupees in the state.

Besides, the Chief Minister also criticized the Center for withholding money for road construction. She said, "We have built about 11,000 km of roads in the state a few days ago. Center is not giving money. Rural roads are being built with money from our MP's fund and power department profits, some roads are still bad. If more money comes, we will make it better.'' Besides giving a speech on the construction of bridges, the Chief Minister said, ''We have built 951 bridges after coming to power in which 7142 crore rupees have been spent. In 2011 there were 161 bridges.''
