West Bengal Budget 2024: WB Government announces special initiative for athletes

 

Before the West Bengal Budget 2024 started, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee indicated that this budget will be used for the benefit of common people. Apart from other sectors of the society, the contribution of the Chief Minister of the state in the field of sports is worth remembering. It became clear after the announcement of this budget.

 


Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of State with Independent Charge of Finance, presented the budget in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, February 8. It was there that several medal winning athletes of Bengal were promised government jobs.

Chandrima said in the assembly, “Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games. And all National and International Games participants and medal winners (Gold, Silver and Bronze) will be offered government jobs in police institutions up to the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police and other government departments according to the medal category and educational qualification.”

 

Since coming to power in 2011, the Chief Minister has taken several initiatives to improve sports in the state. Besides providing financial support to the three major East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mahamedan Sporting, stadiums have been built in several districts. This time, the participants and medal winners of Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and several national and international events have been provided opportunities for government jobs in police and other government departments according to their medal class and educational qualification.
