Budget 2024: PM Awas Yojana Rural close to achieving the target of 3 crore houses, Nirmala Sitharaman
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made a big announcement
in the Budget 2024 amid tension over the withholding of the allocation of the
state's affordable housing scheme. This time the center will bring a new
housing scheme for the middle class. Which will fulfill the dream of middle class
to build their own house.
The Center also helps lower middle class and poor citizens in rural and urban areas to build houses under PM Awas Yojana. Money is given directly to poor citizens in rural areas to build houses. Which is known as PM Awas Yojana Grameen. Again PM Awas Yojana (City) was launched for lower middle class in urban areas during Covid. That project is now closed. As a result middle class or lower middle class are not getting any benefit of Awas Yojana.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced today that a
new housing scheme will be launched for the middle class. He also highlighted
the success of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Grameen project. The Finance Minister
said, "PM Awas Yojana work is going on even though tough challenges are
being faced during the Covid period. We have reached the target of construction
of nearly 3 crore houses. We have taken the target of building 2 crore more
houses in that project in the next five years. Along with Nirmala's
announcement, it has been decided to install solar power projects on the roofs
of one crore houses in the country. The Prime Minister announced this on the
auspicious day of inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Even up to 300 units
of electricity will be provided free.
Nirmala claimed in the budget speech that Modi government
wants all-round development of the country. Therefore, the living standards of
the lower and middle classes should also be increased. Nirmala claims that the
income of ordinary citizens has increased by almost 50 percent in the last 10
years.
